Where do I start?

Booking music for your wedding/event can be an overwhelming experience for many people, but it needn’t be. We are here to guide you every step of the way to ensure that booking and choosing your music is the easiest and most fun part of your preparations. Just start by contacting us here, give us as much detail as possible about your wedding/event and we will take it from there.

What instruments are in a string quartet?

Two violins, a viola and a cello.

What instruments are in a trio?

Violin, viola and cello

What instruments are in a duo?

We offer the option of a violin and cello duo, or two cellos.

What size group/combination should I book?

This depends on a number of factors. Our favourite combination is the string quartet as it has the fullest, richest sound, however, there are a list of things to consider before you make your decision:

  1. How much space is there?

If space is not an issue then the quartet is the best option, however if you are restricted with a smaller venue, then a trio or duo would be more suitable.

  2. How many guests are in attendance?

We would recommend the quartet for larger gatherings. If it is a smaller or more intimate gathering, the trio or duo option would suit perfectly.

  3. How integral is the music to your event?

The quartet has the biggest impact both visually and volume wise, with a full rich sound and added depth. The trio is equally as impressive, but without one of the inner harmony lines. It still has that visual aesthetic and that glorious string sound. All of our repertoire can be played on both the quartet and trio combinations. The duo is a bit more restricted with music choices and covers the main tune and the bass line without the inner harmonies.

  4. What is your budget?

The final thing to consider is your budget, obviously the more musicians you hire, the bigger the cost. If you are on a tight budget then the duo or trio would be a better option to book.

So to summarise. Consider the impact you wish to present both visually and audibly, in conjunction with your budget and the size of your venue. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us, we are here to help you create your perfect wedding/event.

Can I add another instrument.

Yes, we are happy to add or substitute another instrument of your choice.

How do I choose the music for my wedding ceremony?

Depending on what type of ceremony you are having we can talk you through the various parts of the wedding where music is required. Just choose your favourite songs from our list and we will help you place them in the most suitable order within the ceremony.

When do I choose the music for my wedding ceremony?

You can choose your music at any time, however we do like to have the list finalised at least one month before the wedding date if possible.

Do you play as guests take their seats in the church/venue?

Yes, we play pieces similar to the style of music you have chosen for the ceremony until you are ready to walk down the aisle.

How long do you play for at the drinks reception?

Our standard performance time is 1.5 hours, however if you require a longer playing time, please let us know and we will quote accordingly.

What type of music do you play for the drinks reception?

We have a vast array of music to choose from for the drinks reception. We cover all genres including classical, pop, rock, film, Latin, light jazz, musical theatre, opera and Irish music. We can play a mixture of all of the above, or you can choose your preferred styles.

Do you sing?

No, we are an instrumental group, but are happy to recommend singers that we work with on a regular basis.

I have already chosen a singer, can you accompany them?

Yes, we are happy to accompany a singer of your choice, whether they be a professional, friend, or family member. We will go through all details with them before the wedding and will rehearse on the wedding day, one hour before the ceremony begins.

I have a song in mind that isn’t on your repertoire list, can you play it?

If there is a song that isn’t on our list, we will do our utmost to source and arrange it for you.

How far do you travel?

We travel nationwide. Once we have the details of your venue, we will send a fully inclusive quote.

Do you perform outdoors?

Yes, we are happy to perform outdoors providing the conditions are correct. Our instruments are very fragile and therefore we would not be able to play outside in damp, wet weather, as it would damage the varnish on our woodwork. Likewise, direct sunlight would also have a detrimental effect our instruments, however most venues provide some form of shaded protection, such as a covered pergola or gazebo. In this case we are more than happy to play outside.

Do you have any specific requirements?

We require a chair for each player.

Do you use amplification?

Generally we work without amplification as we class ourselves as an acoustic ensemble. The acoustics in churches and most venues allows for this, however if you are having a very large number of guests, we can provide a quotation for a PA system.

How do you dress for a wedding/event?

We regard our attire as a very important aspect of our presentation. We wear smart black for weddings in keeping with the formality of the occasion. For corporate, we can dress to suit the theme of the event. There are several options available including, smart funky black, long evening wear or cream trouser suits. This can be discussed once the style of the event is decided.
